Informal Talk on “Myanmar’s Situations and Outlooks”

Ha Noi, 15/8/2012 – At the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), an informal talk on “Myanmar’s Situations and Outlooks” was jointly held by the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies (IFPSS) and the Asia Foundation. The talk was chaired by Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Director of the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies with the participation of IFPSS officers, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defence, and the Ministry of Public Security as well as other institutes.

Overview of the Talk

The talk aimed to clarify such isues as: (i) the lastest developments in the current reform process in Myanmar; (ii) the roles of powerful countries in this process; and (iii) its impacts on Vietnam.

Ms. Kim N.B. Ninh, the Asia Foundation's Country Representative in Vietnam addresses meeting attendees

The talk took place in an atmosphere of fairness and openness in which a number of issues were discussed, considered in many angles, as well as, suggested with new approaches. At the conclusion of the talk, Ms. Kim N.B. Ninh, the Asia Foundation's Country Representative in Vietnam expressed her desire to continue to cooperate with the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies (IFPSS) and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) in the near future.
