Australia, Canada, U.K, U.S, New Zealand Study Abroad Scholarships Workshop

On the morning of December 12th, at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the English Department in collaboration with IDP Vietnam organized the Australia, Canada, U.K, U.S, New Zealand Study Abroad Scholarships Workshop with the attendance of English Department’s lecturers, students and other interested individuals.

The friendliness and enthusiasm of the specialist consultants from IDP Vietnam had created an open and approachable platform for informative and practical discussion. The students were outspoken about their demand and personal orientation for the upcoming years.

The Workshop provided basic information regarding the types of scholarship; suitable candidates and common majors for each type; researching tools for scholarship information; essential notices when applying for scholarships, from the time period, basic procedures, how to write effective essays, to the necessity of having basic cultural knowledge to studying abroad students. The information was provided through specific examples which could help the students to have a clear vision of the scholarship apply procedure as well as the preparation process.

At the Workshop, the students also had the chance to interact with specialist consultants to get the answer for questions such as should they apply for a scholarship, or would they be eligible for applying or not. Thanks to the informative sharing of IDP Vietnam, many students changed their perspectives about scholarship and became more confident and motivated to start looking for a suitable path for themselves.

The IDP Vietnam’s representative expressed the desire to continue supporting students from the English Department in particular, and from the DAV in general, to grasp the dream of study abroad. In reality, since April 2012, IDP Vietnam has been collaborating in training activities for both lecturers and students of the English Department. IDP Vietnam has helped the lecturers to attend training courses to meet the demand of international standardized English proficiency testing systems, especially IELTS. In addition, IDP Vietnam has been an important partner of the English Department in terms of organizing activities that help students to engage with the internationally standardized testing systems like the free IELTS demo test at DAV.

The representative of the English Department had given sincere thanks to the representative of IDP Vietnam regarding the effort made for the collaboration during the past time. Additionally, the English Department hoped IDP Vietnam to continue supporting the lecturers and students in bringing more helpful activities and information to help students build and develop their language ability as an essential tool to access further studying and working opportunities in developed countries.
