

On the afternoon of May 23th 2018, the Japan Foundation for International Exchange gave the book “The Iwakura Embassy 1871 - 1873” to the Library, Document Information Center, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. This is the first English translation of the official report sent by the Iwakura Embassy to the Meiji government between 1871 and 1873.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Duong Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of Document Information Center and Diplomatic Academy staff, Mr. Ando Toshiki, Director of the Center, and Mr. Kawai Jun, Deputy Director of the Representative Center to the Japan International Exchange Fund.
At the book handover ceremony, Mr. Ando Toshiki said that it was one of the activities commemorating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-Vietnam diplomatic relations, he hoped that although the book was little, it would be useful for students and diplomats as well as Japanese researchers.
Mr. Duong Thanh Binh also expressed his deep thanks to the Japan International Exchange Fund for donating this valuable and meaningful book. He also hoped that in the coming time, the two sides would continue to have meetings, cooperation and exchanges.
