The English Faculty, originally the English Division under the Department of Foreign Languages at the Diplomatic Academy (DAV), has developed alongside the DAV since its establishment in 1959. In 2006, the English Language Program was formally established under the Faculty’s direct management. With a team of highly experienced lecturers holding doctoral and master’s degrees from prestigious universities in Vietnam and abroad, the Faculty provides English-language training for both undergraduate and postgraduate students across all DAV programs, equipping them with the professional knowledge and practical skills required for careers in foreign affairs. The Faculty also contributes significantly to teaching, professional training, and recruitment for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as for central and local foreign affairs agencies.
Placing strong emphasis on international cooperation, the Faculty has sought to strengthen and expand partnerships with domestic and international agencies, enterprises, and educational institutions. Since the 1980s, it has collaborated with foreign lecturers from international organisations such as VSO (UK), WUSC (Canada), and UBCHEA (USA), giving students opportunities to practise English directly with native speakers. The Faculty also maintains an academic partnership with Flinders University, fostering collaborative programs, research opportunities, and international exchanges. Furthermore, it provides scholarships funded by the Reamey family, offering 40–45 awards annually to support and encourage students in their academic and professional development.
In addition, the Faculty manages the Vietnam–U.S. Cooperation Center, launched in 2022 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy. This center serves as a hub for cultural, educational, and research activities, through which students can engage in exchange programs, joint training with international universities, and internships or career opportunities at government bodies, international organisations, diplomatic missions, and leading enterprises in Vietnam and abroad. Under the Faculty’s supervision, students have achieved many awards in national English-speaking and scientific research competitions.
The Bachelor of Arts in English Language program at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, with its experienced lecturers and contemporary teaching approaches, has successfully prepared numerous cohorts of students with robust professional skills to excel across a spectrum of domains such as diplomacy, media - journalism, business - trade, culture, and social sectors. Moreover, it has fostered their adeptness at adapting effectively in a global environment.
