DAV DEBATE ASSOCIATION CONTINUES TO EXTEND THE IMPRESSIVE STREAK OF ACCOMPLISHMENT AT KRABI ABP 2024

The Asian British Parliamentary Championship (ABP) is one of the three Asia's most prestigious annual debate championships, bringing together outstanding teams and highly qualified adjudicators from universities across the continent. This year's tournament was particularly competitive, with challenging motions and the participation of more institutions. The DAV Debate Association (DDA) supervised by Dr. Nguyen Phu Tan Huong (Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy) and chaired by Mr. Ngo Minh Kien (class of 48 specialized on International Relations) has the honor to send a strong team joining the ABP 2024 held in Krabi, Thailand.

After two days of competition and six preliminary rounds, the team “DAV Nguyen & Vu” comprising two experienced debaters, Nguyen Khanh Linh (alumnus of the International Law Faculty, class of 47) and Vu Hoang Anh (student of the International Communication Faculty, class of 49)—successfully advanced to the elimination rounds of the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) division, ranking sixth out of 25 teams in the division. Additionally, Nguyen Quynh Trang (student of the International Communication Faculty, class of 49) also broke into the Out-rounds, becoming the EFL Semi-final Chair & Open Semi-final Panelist. 

This achievement reinforces the prestigious position of the DAV Debate Association and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam as a leading institution in Vietnam in continental and global debate tournaments. Over the years at ABP, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam has achieved the following milestones:

- The first Vietnamese institution to reach the elimination rounds in the EFL division at Krabi ABP 2017.

- The only Vietnamese institution with representatives in the Open division at Shanghai-SIDO-Hanoi ABP 2021 (held online) and Malaysia ABP 2023 (held in-person in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).

- The only Vietnamese institution to have simultaneously been a runner-up and ranked among the top debaters in the EFL division at Bali ABP 2022.

- The first Vietnamese institution with a judge breaking into the furthest out-rounds, particularly the Semi-final of both the Open and EFL divisions, with the Chairing of the EFL semi-final round.

With this unparalleled series of accomplishments, the DAV Debate Association congratulates the debaters and adjudicators representing the institution at this year's tournament.
