Event series “50 Years of Vietnam-Japan: Crossing the East Sea to Welcome the Sun”

In October 2023, the Asia-Pacific Studies Department of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Japanese Culture Club – JDAV, successfully organized the event series “50 Years of Vietnam-Japan: Crossing the East Sea to Welcome the Sun”, commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

The series offered a vibrant space for cultural exchange, academic exploration, and hands-on experiences for young people interested in Japan. Activities included a traditional Japanese doll exhibition, an Ikebana workshop, the BUNKASAI Vietnam-Japan Cultural Festival, a calligraphy workshop, and the Gala Night “RAIENBASHI” 2023. Each activity aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of Japanese culture and people, while fostering interaction, knowledge sharing, and learning among the youth community.

In his opening remarks, Mr. YAMADA Takio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, emphasized the importance of understanding and empathy between people as the foundation of Vietnam-Japan relations. Accordingly, the event series not only celebrated a historic milestone but also provided young participants with an opportunity to appreciate the value of bilateral friendship and cooperation, while inspiring curiosity, learning, and a passion for international culture.
