International Integration Knowledge and Skills Training Course for Officials of Lao Cai Province

Overview of the training course

On 4-5 June, 2024, within the framework of the Project "Training knowledge and skills for officials, civil servants, and employees engaged in international integration activities in the period of 2021-2025", the Foreign Service Training Center, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the People's Committee of Lao Cai Province organized a training course on International Integration Knowledge and Skills for 300 officials, civil servants, and employees working in foreign affairs and international integration activities in Lao Cai Province. This course was exclusively designed for officials, civil servants, and employees of Lao Cai Province based on the specific needs and practical requirements of the locality.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Ly Binh Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Lao Cai, provided information on the socio-economic development of Lao Cai Province, emphasized expansion of external relations and proactive international integration, and committed to enhancing friendship and cooperation with localities and territories of other countries around the world. The province attached great importance to the training and development of officials to enhance the quality of human resources for external relations and international integration. He highly appreciated the significance of organizing this training course and expressed the hope that through information update on the international and regional situation, and Vietnam's policies and approach in relations with neighbouring countries, officials and civil servants of Lao Cai Province can contribute more actively and effectively to the province's external relations and international integration. Lao Cai Province sincerely thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam for their support in organizing training courses over the years and expressed the desire for further cooperation in the future.

The course was conducted by senior experts and leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs such as Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Former President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Former Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Dinh Quy, Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Former Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations; Mr. Tran Huy Hung, Deputy Director General of Northeast Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Dao Quyen Truong, Deputy Director General of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The participants actively engaged in extensive exchanges with the speakers within the framework of four specialized workshops: (i) Updating the world and regional situation and Vietnam's foreign policies; (ii) Information and communication for international integration; (iii) China’s development and Vietnam-China relations; (iv) Cultural diplomacy and promotion of Vietnamese culture in foreign affairs activities and international events.

After completing the training course, the participants highly valued the experts, the workshops and the excellent organization of the course. The knowledge and skills gained and updated during the training courses have significantly contributed to the province's external relations and international integration. The participants expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the experts and lecturers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly the organizer - the Foreign Service Training Center, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, and hoped for more opportunities to attend future courses to enhance their foreign affairs knowledge, skills, and language proficiency.
