On May 7, 2023, the Southeast Asia - ASEAN Club of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DSAC) successfully organized the Lao New Year event, introducing the unique traditional cultural features of the “Land of a Million Elephants” to students. The program saw the participation of lecturers from the Academy, Lao international students, and a large number of students interested in the culture of Southeast Asia.

At the event, students learned about the origins, meanings, and important rituals of Bunpimay, one of the biggest traditional holidays in Laos. In addition, participants had the opportunity to directly experience typical activities such as the wrist-tying ceremony, water-splashing for good luck, and tasting traditional Lao dishes. The warm and engaging sharing by the guests, along with performances rich in Lao cultural identity, offered attendees an authentic and deep insight into the culture of Laos.

Therefore, the event not only helped students better understand the cultural beauty of the neighboring country but also fostered a spirit of respect and appreciation for cultural diversity in Southeast Asia. It was also an opportunity for young people to recognize the role of cultural exchange in building friendly relations, cooperation, and strengthening bonds among nations.
