

On the afternoon of February 19, the Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation and the Japan Cultural Exchange Center, organized a lecture on the topic: "U.S. Policy under President Donald Trump and Japan-U.S. Relations," presented by Professor Kiichi Fujiwara.
Professor Kiichi Fujiwara is a highly regarded expert in international relations, currently serving as a Professor at Chiba University and an Honorary Professor at the University of Tokyo. In addition to his academic work, he frequently appears on Japanese media as a commentator.
The lecture was attended by Associate Professor Dr. Ha Anh Tuan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy, along with faculty members specializing in Japanese Studies and more than 110 students from various disciplines, including Japanese Studies, American Studies, and International Relations.
On the Japanese side, the event welcomed Mr. Yoshioka Norihiko, Director of the Japan Foundation Vietnam; and Mr. Osuka Shoya, Head of Culture & Arts, Japanese Studies, and International Dialogue at JFVN. Representatives from the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam included Ms. Kamitani Naoko, First Secretary, and Mr. Yamasaki Kohei, Second Secretary.
In his speech, Associate Professor Dr. Ha Anh Tuan expressed his deep gratitude to the Japan Foundation and the Embassy of Japan for their invaluable contributions to fostering academic and cultural exchanges, particularly in supporting the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in academic and cultural exchange activities related to Japan.
During the lecture, Professor Kiichi Fujiwara analyzed the geopolitical shifts under President Donald Trump and their impact on Japan-U.S. relations. Faced with the challenges posed by the rise of power politics, Japan needs to adjust its regional and global strategies. At the end of the lecture, Professor Fujiwara and the students discussed the implications of these changes for Japan-Vietnam relations in the rapidly evolving international landscape.
