Meeting between Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam and National University of Malaysia

The DAV delegation was led by Dr. Do Thanh Hai, Deputy Director-General of the East Sea Institute, and MSc. Tran Huu Duy Minh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Law, Ambassador Tao Thi Thanh Huong, lecturer of the Faculty of International Economics, Dr. Nguyen Phu Tan Huong, lecturer of the Faculty of International Politics & Diplomacy, along with several researchers from the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies Institute and the East Sea Institute.

In his opening remarks, Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam, Dato’ Tan Yang Thai, emphasized the importance of people-to-people exchanges in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations. The exchange and working luncheon represent the Embassy's effort to foster interaction between two leading higher education institutions in Viet Nam and Malaysia. The year 2025 holds special significance for Viet Nam-Malaysia relations, marking the 10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries and the 30th anniversary of Viet Nam's membership in ASEAN. Additionally, Malaysia will assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. The Ambassador underscored the need to advance the Viet Nam-Malaysia Strategic Partnership across all fields for the benefit of both nations' citizens and to contribute to regional peace and prosperity.

On behalf of the delegation from the National University of Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Zarina Binti Othman expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Malaysian Embassy in Vietnam for organizing the exchange event. The delegation's visit to Ha Noi is a significant activity within National University of Malaysia's 10th Regional Post-Graduate Network (JSN) program. This visit is crucial for understanding Vietnam's socio-economic practices and foreign policies, aiming to promote bilateral relations and cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

On behalf of the DAV, Dr. Do Thanh Hai, Deputy Director General of the East Sea Institute, expressed gratitude to the Malaysian Embassy in Vietnam and welcomed the delegation from National University of Malaysia to Ha Noi. Dr. Do Thanh Hai shared with the lecturers and students of National University of Malaysia Viet Nam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, multilateralism, and international integration. He emphasized that ASEAN is one of the key pillars in Vietnam's foreign policy. Especially in the context of numerous global and regional challenges, solidarity within ASEAN serves as a crucial "anchor" for maintaining peace and stability in Southeast Asia.

In a friendly and open atmosphere, experts from the DAV engaged with lecturers and students from National University of Malaysia, discussing the opportunities and challenges facing Vietnam amidst global volatility. They also elaborated on Vietnam's policies to safeguard national interests in accordance with international law, contributing to the strengthening and promotion of solidarity and practical cooperation within ASEAN.
