Presentation of the English Faculty in the International Conference on English for Occupational Purposes 2024

On April 13-14, 2024, the School of Foreign Languages and Tourism, Hanoi University of Industry, in collaboration with the VietTESOL English Teaching Association and the National Foreign Language Project, organized an international workshop on Research and Teaching English towards Career Orientation with the theme "Empowering learners for a Globalized Workforce." The workshop featured keynote speakers, scholars and experts in the field from universities and reputable international English language organizations, along with a diverse participation of researchers, lecturers, and teachers from various educational institutions nationwide.

On behalf of Dean Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Lien, the presenter from DAV’s English Faculty, Ms. Nguyen Do Ngan Giang gave a presentation about a Faculty’s research titled “Assessing the Effectiveness of Teaching and Learning of EOP courses for 4th-year students in Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam”. It is agreed that assessment is an important part of ensuring the continual improvement of teaching standards and monitoring student progress. Hence, the research aims at exploring the factors influencing the quality of teaching and learning English for Special Purposes and delivering possible solutions to address this issue.

The presentation received close attention at the workshop as it is expected to assist English department lecturers in improving teaching methods, potentially developing new teaching approaches, and enhancing the effectiveness of the learning process. In addition, the research results also help instructors understand students' perspectives on current teaching and learning methods, thereby enhancing teacher-student interaction and improving learning effectiveness.

In the coming time, the English Faculty plans to join more workshops in the field of TESOL, expanding research scope and professional circle, thus improving the quality of teaching of teachers and studying of students
