The Inauguration Ceremony of the French language Library and the Round table on "Vietnam - France Diplomatic Relations"

Vietnam and France established official diplomatic relations in 1973, while Vietnam was still engaged in the war against the United States for national liberation and reunification. Throughout the challenging years of war and Vietnam's subsequent isolation, encirclement, and enduring embargo, France emerged as a crucial supporter, providing invaluable aid to Vietnam.

As time progressed, the relationship between the two countries steadily evolved, marking significant milestones. Presently, their collaboration resonates with vitality, positivity, and efficacy across diverse domains encompassing business, economy, climate resilience, education, heritage, and a shared approach to specific matters related to security and stability.

Additionally, grassroots exchanges and inter-regional cooperation stand as pivotal elements in this bilateral bond. Presently, there are over 300,000 Vietnamese residents in France, with approximately 3,000 individuals trained in various capacities—ranging from legal experts to university professors, doctors, and researchers. Notably, the construction of the French language Library at the Diplomatic Academy in 2022, supported by the French Embassy, symbolizes the strength of this collaboration. Despite its modest scale, this initiative significantly aids the teaching, research, and learning endeavors of French-speaking educators and students at the Diplomatic Academy, perpetuating and fortifying the enduring ties between these two nations.

2023, a pivotal year for Vietnam - France relations, marks the commemoration of 50 years since the inception of diplomatic ties and 10 years of strategic partnership between the two nations. The accomplished milestones underscore the vast potential within this bilateral relationship, acting as a pivotal driving force for its future progression. This significance amplifies amidst the intricate landscape of international relations, characterized by intense competition among global entities.

After the Inauguration Ceremony, a round table on Vietnam - France Diplomatic Relations stands out as a significant event within the special milestone of the bilateral Vietnam-France relationship. Esteemed speakers and guests, including Ambassadors and former Ambassadors from both Vietnam and France, as well as officials, educators, and French language students from the DAV, actively engaged in this exchange session.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Duong Van Quang and French Ambassador Nicolas Warner reminisced about the beginnings of Vietnam - France Diplomatic Relations up to the present day. They reflected on historic state visits between the two nations and the consistent organization of pivotal French-language events spanning across diverse fields.
