

On October 9, 2018, Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Vu Tung, President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, jointly chaired the discussion with the delegation of the ASEAN - Australia Council (AAC) led by Ms. Christine Holgate, Chief Executive of ACC, visited and worked in Vietnam. Present in the seminar were the Australian Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade Richard Maude, Vice President Le Hai Binh, leaders and experts from the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, the Institute of East Sea, some specialized units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security and representatives of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam.

The seminar took place in an open, frank and cooperative atmosphere. The two sides exchanged a number of issues on ASEAN - Australia, Vietnam - Australia relations, as well as future cooperation between DAV and AAC. Regarding ASEAN-Australia relations, Ms. Christine said that ASEAN continues to be Australia's leading partner in the region, especially in the context of increasingly tense US-China competition. Regarding the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Australia, AAC representatives highly appreciated the people-to-people relations between the two countries, especially in the field of education and training.
