Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam receives certificate of institutional accreditation

The accreditation of educational institutions according to Circular 12/2017 has been implemented by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam since June 2018, undergoing a self-assessment process, preliminary and official surveys of external evaluation of the education quality that took place from January 3rd-8th, 2020, at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.

Quality assurance and accreditation of educational institutions are the strategic priorities in the overall work plan of the Academy, together with the close direction of the Academy’s Board of Directors, the participation with high determination and responsibility of the units and individuals towards the common goal is to complete the accreditation of educational institutions by 2020.

Before that, speaking at the closing ceremony of the Official Survey on Quality Assessment of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in January 2020 and in front of the delegation of the external evaluation experts, the Academy’s Board of Directors and all staff, lecturers, and students of the Academy; Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the assessment and accreditation of the education and training quality is a major policy of the State, creating opportunities for universities in general and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in particular to recognize the advantages and shortcomings, identifying issues that need innovation and improvement in order to serve the cause of education and training and strengthen the responsibility of autonomy of educational institutions. At the same time, the Deputy Minister emphasized the attention and commitment from the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue accompanying the Diplomatic Academy in the upcoming development.

Also at the closing ceremony of the official survey, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Tung, Director of the Academy of Foreign Affairs, shared: “Through this self and external assessment, especially the external assessment report from the experts group will help the entire Academy understand more comprehensively, more fully, more accurately in all aspects of the administration system; internal quality assurance system; activities of training, scientific research and community service.”

Receiving the certificate of institutional accreditation according to the set of standard criteria specified in Circular 12/2017/ TT-BGDĐT is the assessment and recognition for the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in all fields from executive management, research, teaching, cultivating, learning, finance and facilities. This is also a great challenge, yet a great motivation for the Academy to develop a very specific quality improvement plan in order to bring into play the strengths and to overcome the existing shortcomings and proceed to test the training programs following the standards of the ASEAN Universities Network (AUN).
