Among the newly debuted Editors of Vietnam Today are four standout representatives from Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam: Editor Khánh Minh (alumnus of Cohort 38, Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy), Editor Sơn Anh (alumnus of Cohort 45, Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy), Editor Huyền Trần (alumna of Cohort 45, Faculty of Communications and International Culture), and Editor Thảo Trang (student of Cohort 49, Faculty of Communications and International Culture).
Despite differences in age and current roles, they share key qualities: confidence, intellect, and a deep sense of pride in being students of Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.

1. Editor Khánh Minh

Editor Khánh Minh (Full name: Lê Khánh Minh) is an alumnus of Cohort 38, majoring in International Relations under the Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy.

After graduating in International Relations from Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Khánh Minh quickly established his mark in the field of journalism and external communications. He has also collaborated with several media and press agencies, such as VTC10 - VTC Digital Television, VOV5 - The Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency’s Television Channel, and VTV7 - Vietnam’s Education Channel.

Beyond journalism, Editor Khánh Minh has also lectured at Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University, and other educational institutions. He has contributed to numerous academic projects, including co-authoring the textbook Translation I for the Foreign Trade University. He has also been invited to serve as a judge or organizing committee member for academic and educational events hosted by various universities and research institutes. 2. Editor Huyền Trần

Editor Huyền Trần (Full name: Trần Thanh Huyền) is an alumna of Cohort 45, majoring in International Communication under the Faculty of International Communications and Culture.

As one of the six outstanding graduates of Cohort 45 from the Faculty of International Communications and Culture, Trần Thanh Huyền found her path into journalism early and became an Editor and Presenter at Vietnam Television. After three years working at the External Affairs Department, she has become a familiar face on screen through major news programs such as Newsline, as well as key feature shows including Daily Biz, Culture Scene, and The Point.

Thanks to her outstanding academic record, Thanh Huyền became an Editor and Presenter at VTV immediately after graduation.

Last April, the female anchor had the honour of representing VTV in a media collaboration project with CGTN, under China Media Group (CMG), during the state visit to Vietnam of Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping. The event also marked the signing of a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum between VTV and CMG, opening a new chapter in bilateral media exchange.
As the inaugural news anchor of the Vietnam Today channel, Thanh Huyền expressed special pride in being able to amplify Vietnam’s voice to the world. “When the U.S. has CNN, Germany has DW, Japan has NHK… Vietnam has Vietnam Today,” she shared enthusiastically.

Thanh Huyền is one of the two anchors who presented the very first news broadcast on Vietnam Today.

To project a confident presence on international television, Thanh Huyền shares that the key lies in combining solid foundational knowledge with real-world experience. Her time at Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, along with internships at embassies, media outlets, and international organizations, equipped the Class 45 graduate with essential skills in research, synthesis, analysis, and information management, as well as a broad understanding of politics, economics, and diplomacy - foundations crucial for her first steps in the profession. With strong political acumen and the ability to manage pressure, honed through both academic and professional environments, the anchor can confidently lead news broadcasts and in-depth programs in English.

She then became a familiar face on the program IELTS Face Off on VTV7 and is now a news editor and anchor responsible for the international segment on the Vietnam Today foreign affairs channel. From the Classrooms of DAV to the “Frontline” of International Media

Becoming an editor at Vietnam Today means having the opportunity to engage with leading scholars and cover the world’s most pressing issues, but it also comes with intense pressure, where every frame and every word must be precise. “The greatest challenge in Vietnam Today is the workload and the high standards required. Every word, every frame must be carefully and rigorously considered. In top positions, such as production management or program hosting, the pressure multiplies many times over, and this state must be maintained for hours, even days on end,” shares anchor Khánh Minh. Editors from Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam all agree that the resilience and training they received in the Academy’s demanding environment are invaluable tools that help them overcome challenges and establish their professional standing.

Messages from Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam Students

Whether alumni or current students, those from DAV working at Vietnam Today share a common piece of advice for students aspiring to pursue journalism and media: start with the passion to spread positive values, persistently develop your language skills and professional abilities, and maintain unwavering dedication to the profession. Journalism is not only about the glamour on screen, but it also requires sacrifice, perseverance, and a spirit of commitment.

With years of experience in the field, anchor Khánh Minh shares advice for those aspiring to a career in journalism: “For me, journalists and educators share a common goal, to convey positive values to everyone. No matter what major you are studying or which educational institution you attend, you can always start from that aspiration.”

For students aspiring to become TV anchors and program hosts, editor Sơn Anh offers this advice: “First and foremost, students who dream of pursuing journalism, television, and media should stay committed to their studies, especially honing communication skills and language proficiency. At the same time, actively seek opportunities to gain practical experience through extracurricular activities, internships, and professional exposure. Only through effort, passion, and perseverance can you overcome challenges and achieve sustainable growth in any field or profession.”

“Everyone has their own path of growth, and you are on yours, whether you realize it or not. Stay calm and confident in your decisions, and keep striving, because every effort will be rewarded, sooner or later. My journey wasn’t about a sudden burst of talent, but about daily dedication. Always stay curious, observe your surroundings, and train yourself both physically and mentally, so that when opportunities arise, you’ll be ready to seize them,” shares by editor Huyền Trần.

Pursuing her passion for journalism and television since her student days, Thảo Trang shares: “Journalism is a demanding profession. Beyond hosting programs, a journalist must be versatile, capable of handling multiple roles to produce a television piece from start to finish. The job also requires strong independent work skills as well as teamwork, a deep understanding of political issues, and the ability to stay on top of current events. To sustain a long-term career, loving the profession is essential. Therefore, anyone aiming to enter this field should be prepared for a reality that is not just glamorous on screen, but also involves significant sacrifice and effort. Early exposure to the work is the best way to test whether journalism is truly the right fit for you.”

The presence of four talents from Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam on the Vietnam Today foreign affairs channel not only showcases their skills, resilience, and ambition to meet the highest professional standards but also reflects the spirit of integration of the DAV student community - dynamic, confident, and ready to step onto the global stage.
