Professional experience:
Associate Professor Ha Anh Tuan is a distinguished scholar at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. With a robust academic background, extensive experience in research and teaching combining with practical experience as a diplomat, he has made significant contributions to understanding Vietnam's foreign policy and its role in the evolving global order. Tuan's expertise spans regional maritime security, international relations of the Asia-Pacific, and Vietnam’s foreign policy. His work often addresses pressing geopolitical challenges, emphasizing Vietnam's strategic position and diplomatic initiatives within the Asia-Pacific region.
As a seasoned educator and policy advisor, Associate Professor Tuan has mentored many PhD, master and undergraduate students and contributed to shaping Vietnam's next generation of diplomats and international relations specialists. Associate Professor Tuan is also Executive Director of the Foundation for East Sea (South China Sea) Studies.

III. History and development of FIPAD
The Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy was officially established pursuant to Decision No. 1403/QĐ signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 12, 1998. However, its foundations were laid in 1959 with the establishment of the University of Diplomacy (the precursor to the current Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam), rooted in two initial subjects: History of International Relations and Vietnam’s Foreign Policy.
Accompanying the Academy’s development, the Faculty has continuously strived for growth, maintaining its position as the country’s most prestigious training unit for International Relations and Diplomacy officials. The Faculty currently possesses a high-quality team of tenured faculty members who have been formally trained in advanced nations and reputable domestic educational institutions.
Moreover, the Faculty receives teaching cooperation from many leading experts in the field of IR and diplomacy, including Ambassadors, veteran diplomats, current and former leaders of agencies directly involved in foreign affairs within the Vietnamese political system, as well as experienced researchers from both domestic and foreign research institutions.
After graduating, students can access diverse career opportunities across various positions:
Public servants and officials responsible for foreign affairs, international relations within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as central ministries and agencies specialized in external relations, diplomacy in the political system, such as: The CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, National Assembly Committee on Foreign Affairs, and The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO).
Lecturers, Researchers in: International Politics, International Relations, and Diplomacy at Universities, Academies, Institutes, and research agencies both in Vietnam and foreign.
International Relations / International Cooperation Specialists within the international cooperation departments of units under Ministries and Agencies, from central to local levels
Language-related positions, such as Translators and Interpreters, at Ministries, Departments, Agencies, foreign missions, and international organizations (based on linguistic proficiency combined with knowledge of politics, IR, and diplomacy).
