OPEN LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the research staff of the Institute for Strategic and Diplomatic Studies, I would like to express my sincere and deepest gratitude to my colleagues who have accompanied the Institute on the past 10 years (2008-2018).
This Yearbook is compiled with the aim of “reviewing the past, learning the new”, honoring tradition, reflecting on the present and looking towards the future. This is an opportunity to remember the previous generations, those who did research work at the predecessor units of the Institute for Strategic Studies and built the tradition.

This is an opportunity to pay tribute to generations of leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially Deputy Prime Minister - Minister Pham Gia Khiem, who was determined to overcome all challenges to establish the Institute, and Deputy Prime Minister - Minister Pham Binh Minh, who always paid attention and created favorable conditions for the growth of the Institute. This is also a milestone to express deep gratitude to generations of leaders of the Institute, from comrade Dang Dinh Quy, the first Director of the Institute who built and laid the foundation, to comrades Hoang Anh Tuan and Nguyen Vu Tung. The 10 years of development of the Institute for Strategic Studies is also the result of all the staff and employees who have worked and are working at the Institute, who have made efforts to complete more than 50 research topics of all kinds, organized and participated in hundreds of domestic and international seminars, and taught dozens of different subjects.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to the Institute's advisors, friends, Vietnamese and international partners, who have accompanied, cooperated and supported the Institute's activities over the past 10 years.
With this Yearbook, we share familiar images, valuable reviews and deep feelings about our Institute.
