On 29 October 2025, the Faculty of International Law at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam successfully organized the seminar “International Law for Combating Human Trafficking: From the Palermo Protocol to Practice.” The event was attended by Dr. Ngô Thị Trang, Vice Dean of the Faculty, and featured Ms. Lê Thị Hồng Lương, Director of the Anti-Trafficking Program at the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, as the keynote speaker, alongside a large number of students eager to deepen their understanding of international human rights and criminal law issues.

During the seminar, Ms. Lê Thị Hồng Lương provided in-depth practical insights into the international legal framework established under the Palermo Protocol, highlighting the challenges faced by governments, law enforcement agencies, and civil society in preventing and combating human trafficking. She discussed the realities of anti-trafficking efforts in Vietnam and the broader region, emphasizing the need for effective coordination, legal enforcement, and public awareness to protect vulnerable populations.

The seminar offered students a valuable opportunity to engage with both the theoretical and practical dimensions of international law, enhancing their understanding of how legal instruments like the Palermo Protocol function in real-world contexts. Participants gained a deeper appreciation of the crucial role of law in safeguarding human rights and combating cross-border criminal activities, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to legal practice, policy development, and advocacy in this critical area.
Through events like this, the Faculty of International Law continues to foster a learning environment that bridges academic knowledge with practical application, equipping students with the skills, awareness, and ethical grounding necessary to address pressing international legal challenges.
