Following the success of the 19th Francophonie Summit held in France, on October 14, 2024, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), in collaboration with the French Embassy in Vietnam and the University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University, Hanoi co-organized the simulation course “Francophonie Summit and the Young Generation of Asia-Pacific: Creativity, Innovation, Entrepreneurship in French”.

The course, with a series of activities taking place at the Diplomatic Academy from October 14 to 19, 2024, aims to bring together passionate young Francophones, especially those studying French and deeply interested in the Francophone Community. This is a valuable opportunity for Francophone youth in the Asia-Pacific region to connect, exchange ideas, and share experiences; thereby contributing to the promotion and development of the French language and culture in the region; expanding understanding of international issues related to the Francophone Community, while developing practical recommendations to enhance the presence and influence of Francophone youth.

The Opening Ceremony of the course was attended by Mr. Olivier Brochet, French Ambassador to Vietnam; Mr. Arnaud Pannier, Education Cooperation Attaché; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Van Quang, former Director of the Diplomatic Academy, former Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore and UNESCO; Dr. Nguyen Hoang Nhu Thanh, Head of the French Language Department at the Diplomatic Academy; Dr. Dam Minh Thuy, Dean of the Faculty of French Language and Culture at ULIS-VNU, along with lecturers, and more than 30 students and Francophone officials from Laos, Cambodia, and universities in Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, and Hanoi.

The opening ceremony of the course took place at the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam.

The opening themes, titled "Francophonie and the Summits" and "Francophone Summit in Villers-Cotterêts: Challenges, Outcomes, and Prospects," were presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Van Quang and the French Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Olivier Brochet. They discussed with the participants general information about the Francophone Community, important milestones of previous High-level Conferences, and the impressive achievements that the International Francophone Community has attained since the 19th Francophone Summit. Mr. Olivier Brochet, French Ambassador to Vietnam, speaking at the course.

The first day of the course took place in a lively, friendly, and open atmosphere. Participants actively asked questions and discussed with the speaker about the future of the Francophone Community, development directions in the digital era, as well as opportunities and challenges. On the occasion of General Secretary and President To Lam's official visit to France from October 6-7, 2024, the two leaders agreed to announce the upgrade of their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. With this decision, France becomes the first country in the EU to have a comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam. This is a positive signal that promises to open up many opportunities for bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of education, leading many Vietnamese students to express interest in study and work opportunities in the French language. The course will continue until the end of October 19, 2024, promising to deliver an effective, creative, and innovative simulation of the Francophonie Summit./.

Francophone students and officials from many countries exchange ideas during the course.
