The Faculty Of International Law held 3rd Annual Legal Conference on International Law

On the morning of December 15, 2024, the Faculty of International Law - Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam organized The Annual 3rd Legal conference on the theme "Legal issues surrounding Artificial Intellegence”.

The conference held over 108 papers from the DAV and other undergraduate legal institutes in Vietnam. The conferenceinspire law students into academic research with special attention towards the field of artificial intelligence. The conference marks the effort from the DAV to promote scientific contribution and hone the skills of aspiring lawyers for the future.

The conference was featured by law lecturers and legal experts in Intellectual Property and International Law in Vietnam, respectively: Dr. Nguyen Phan Dieu Linh - Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law at the Civil Law Faculty of Hanoi Law University; Dr. Vu Hai Dang - East Sea Institute - Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam; Miss. Pham Minh Huyen – DeputyHead of  Intellectual Property Law, Faculty of Civil Law, Hanoi Law University; Mr. Duong Duc Anh - Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Le Thi Huong, Associate, Management and International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. From the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam representatives, Mr. Tran Huu Duy Minh, Vice Dean of Faculty of International Law; Dr. Phan Vu Tuan Anh, Head of Faculty of Chinese language; and respected law lecturers from the Faculty of International Law, DAV.

In the opening remarks, Mr. Tran Huu Duy Minh expressed his gratitude to distinguished guests from external units such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Hanoi Law University, and commercialsponsors including Sai Gon Industry Development Investment Joint Stock Company - IDC (Diamond Sponsor), Saigon Bailiff Office, Thang & Associates Law Firm and external sponsors. He emphasized that the conference was not just an academic playground but also hold a solid foundation to maintain the legal research spirit there at the Faculty of International Law.

The seven-hour scientific conference has two main sessions: "AI and Intellectual Property" and "AI and Legal cornerstones". Ten presentations analyze grounds such as copyright law, industrial applications, deepfake applications, and the right to be forgotten from Vietnamese and international legal system, focus on AI in Intellectual Property Law and legal challenges. The review panelist commenced the quality of the papers, the depth of investment, and the original approach from the authors. The panelists provided specific guidance with regards to reliability, structure, and researchmethodology, helping the audience to gain academic value and of their practical use in studying law. The questions and comments from the panelist and audience not only supports the authors to reassess their research papers but also createdspace for enlighting knowledge and networking opportunities among law students from different universities.

At the concluding remark, Mr. Tran Huu Duy Minh expressed sincere thanks to the lecturers as panelist, respectivesponsors, and all law students who participated the 3rd annual scientific conference. He wished to further enhance theformat, topics coverage, with the hope to attract more diverse number of audience and participants for the upcoming coference.

The conference ended with an unwavering atmosphere that momentarily build upon the research culture of the Faculty of International Law. The achievements from the Conference may encourage law students to publish quality research in scientific journals, contributing to their legal progression and the reputation of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.
