

On the morning of July 25, 2025, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam held the 2025 Nguyen Co Thach Study Encouragement Scholarship Ceremony, along with the “Wings for the Future” Scholarship, and “Light up the Dreams” Scholarship awards.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the family of the late Foreign Minister Nguyen Co Thach, DAV’s President Nguyen Hung Son, and leaders of the Academy Office units, including Faculties and Research Institutes, lecturers of, and more than 200 students honored with scholarships.
The event opened with a lively performance of “Di giua troi ruc ro” by the DAVs Youth Union. After that, DAV’s President Nguyen Hung Son delivered an emotional opening speech. In his address, he expressed deep gratitude to the family of the late Foreign Minister Nguyen Co Thach, as well as to the organizations and individuals who have supported the Academy in its mission to assist students. He also highlighted the key innovations of this year’s three scholarship programs, with the total value significantly increased to over 2.2 billion VND-several times higher than in previous years. Notably, the Nguyen Co Thach Scholarship received more than 165 applications this year and introduced a clear categorization to recognize the diverse potentials of students.
Through the three scholarship programs: Nguyen Co Thach, Wings for the Future, and Light up the Dreams, the Academy reaffirmed its commitment to comprehensive support for students, not only academically but also in overcoming challenges and fostering holistic development. DAV’s President Nguyen Hung Son also emphasized that the scholarships are not merely awards, but encouragement for students to continue striving, develop their abilities, assert themselves, and make positive contributions to society in the future.

Amid the joy of being honored, exemplary students shared their personal stories on the journey to receiving the Nguyen Co Thach Study Encouragement Scholarship. Representing a group of students with leadership qualities and contributions to the Diplomatic Academy community, Nguyen Quang Minh, a student of the 48th cohort from the Faculty of International Economics and Deputy Secretary of the Academy’s Youth Union, spoke about the core values of the Nguyen Co Thach Scholarship. He emphasized how these values serve as guiding principles for every student at the Academy in their pursuit of comprehensive personal development in the modern era.

As one of this year’s outstanding recipients of the Nguyen Co Thach Study Encouragement Scholarship and representative of the student group excelling in academics and scientific research, Du Vu Quynh Anh, a 48th-cohort student from the Faculty of International Law, also expressed her deep emotion and pride upon receiving the scholarship.

Tran Ngoc Linh, a 50th-cohort student majoring in English, has overcome significant financial challenges to maintain an excellent GPA and achieve remarkable accomplishments in community activities. Receiving the “Light up the Dreams” Scholarship has become a motivation for her to continue pursuing personal and academic development in the near future.

Following the student reflections, the ceremony continued with the recognition of outstanding individuals receiving the Nguyen Co Thach Study Encouragement Scholarship. As one of the Diplomatic Academy’s most prestigious scholarship programs, it honors students who excel in academics and scientific research, demonstrate leadership potential, and contribute positively to the student community. After a rigorous and transparent selection process, the Council chose 20 exemplary students to receive the award.
The ceremony then proceeded with the presentation of the “Wings for the Future” and “Light up the Dreams” scholarships, two annual programs designed to support students facing financial difficulties in achieving academic excellence. Continuing the mission of fostering talent and assisting first-year students in overcoming challenges, the Academy awarded 20 “Wings for the Future” scholarships this year, totaling 727 million VNĐ, with each scholarship covering 80% of the first-year tuition fee. Additionally, 73 “Light up the Dreams” scholarships were awarded, valued at 15 million, 20 million, and 30 million VNĐ respectively, to encourage and support second- and third-year students from disadvantaged backgrounds on their journey to academic success.
