Acting President Nguyen Hung Son Hosts Rector of Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations of Cuba

Also attending the reception were Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador of Cuba to Viet Nam, and officials from the Cuban Embassy. From DAV’s side, participating in the meeting were representatives from the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, the East Sea Institute, the Department of Education and Training, and the External Relations Division.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son expressed his honor to receive the high-level delegation from ISRI and emphasized the significance of the visit in the context of the continued development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Cuba. He highly appreciated ISRI’s role and standing in international relations training and research, and expressed his desire to broaden and deepen cooperation between the two institutions.

For his part, Ambassador Rogelio Sierra Díaz shared that ISRI is Cuba’s leading training center in the field of international relations and diplomacy. He introduced several notable activities of the Institute, including the publication of prestigious academic journals in Cuba. The Ambassador proposed strengthening cooperation between ISRI and DAV through joint research projects, academic exchanges, encouraging students from both sides to participate in international publications, and establishing joint research groups to promote sustainable and practical cooperation. He also extended a cordial invitation to Dr. Nguyen Hung Son to visit and work in Cuba at a mutually convenient time.

In response, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son expressed his admiration for the courageous and creative spirit of the Cuban people, particularly their outstanding achievements in education and healthcare. He welcomed the cooperation proposals from ISRI and suggested establishing an annual academic dialogue between the two institutions to maintain a regular and effective channel of professional exchange, especially through online formats appropriate for both sides.

The meeting took place in a sincere and friendly atmosphere of mutual understanding. Both sides agreed to maintain regular contact, increase delegation exchanges, and strengthen academic cooperation, contributing to deepening the special friendship between Viet Nam and Cuba in the current new stage of development./.
