On the morning of 30 December 2025, the first Ambassador’s Talk under the theme “Self-Positioning - Decoding Your Career Path” was held successfully under the chairmanship of Amb., Assoc. Prof., Dr Đặng Đình Quý, as part of the 2025 DAV Ambassadors’ Journey course.
Participating the seminar, there were Amb., Prof., Dr Nguyễn Vũ Tùng, former Vietnamese Ambassador to South Korea, former President of the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam; Amb. Lương Thanh Nghị, former Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark and Australia, former Director-General of the Department of Information and the Press, and Spokesperson of the Viet Nam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Amb. Nguyễn Thị Bích Huệ, former Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy; Ms Hoàng Mai Hương, Head of the Undergraduate Training Division and Head of the Course Organising Committee; along with all the course’s students and a large number of the Academy’s students attending both in-person and online, contributing to a serious, lively, and widespread academic atmosphere.

To kick off Ambassador’s Talk #1, Amb., Assoc. Prof. Dr Đặng Đình Quý approached “self-positioning” as a dynamic and two-way process, requiring each individual to simultaneously understand their own capabilities and limitations, and to correctly perceive the social context and professional environment they are participating in. From explaining the concept to providing practical examples, the Ambassador emphasised that for students of the Diplomatic Academy, self-positioning is not just about choosing a specific career, but rather a process of establishing one’s personal position and role in an increasingly multi-layered and competitive environment. This requires continuous learning, adjustment, and adaptation to domestic and international fluctuations.

Amb. Đặng Đình Quý also pointed out the specific challenges that students, especially students from the Academy, are facing in the process of self-positioning and career path development. In the context of deep international integration, with the field of foreign affairs expanding into many new professions and increasing competitive pressure, the Ambassador suggested an active approach for students through the use of self-assessment tools, maintaining a spirit of learning, observation, and reflection, thereby adjusting personal development orientations towards the long-term, flexibility, and suitability for the rapidly changing context.

Following the Ambassador’s sharing, the Q&A session took place in an open atmosphere, creating a two-way dialogue between the Ambassador and the students. This helped clarify many concerns surrounding career path selection, personal capacity development, and adaption to the changes in the current labour market.

Ambassador’s Talk #1, themed “Positioning Yourself - Decoding Your Career Path”, was a resounding success, held in a lively and insightful academic atmosphere. Through the Amb. Đặng Đình Quý’s sharing, the Academy’s students gained a more comprehensive perspective on self-positioning, building sustainable career thinking, and proactively adapting to labour market fluctuations.

Concluding Ambassador’s Talk #1, the 2025 DAV Ambassadors’ Journey course continues to affirm itself as a valuable academic and experiential space where students connect, engage in dialogue, and learn directly from experienced diplomats. In the upcoming time, it is promised that the course will carry out many in-depth, diverse, and practical activities, accompanying students on their journey of self-improvement, shaping their career mindset, and gradually preparing them with a solid foundation for their future career paths.
