Article submission guidelines

ARTICLE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. The article to be published on the International Studies must be of original substance that has never been published in any form whatsoever.

2. If the author uses any source of information that has not yet been released on publications or s/he is permitted for limited use only, then s/he has to indicate the administrator of the documents as well as the document codes.

3. The author is entirely responsible for the contents of the article as well as all the details included in the article such as quotations, illustrative documents, figures, tables, data and statistics, etc. If the document written in a foreign language has been translated and published in Vietnamese, then the Vietnamese version must be used in the latest edition.

4. The Editorial Board only accepts articles drafted in standard format. In the case the article is not used, the Editorial Board will not return the manuscript to the author.

5. The Editorial Board applies double-blind peer review whereby all the information related the author and peer reviewer(s) is treated in confidential manner.

6. The Editorial Board reserves the right to correct and shorten the article.

7. The article manuscript must be typewritten on the A4 format, satisfying the following requirements:

The cover: The author provides title of the article and necessary personal information such as full name, title, designation, institutional affiliation, telephone number, ID number and PIT number.

The body includes: (i) the title; (ii) the abstract (no more than 150 words, highlighting the main contents and intellectual contributions of the article); (iii) 3-5 key words; (iv) the text (no more than 7,000 words); and (v) the references.

The whole manuscript should be formated as follows: line spacing of 1.5, Times New Roman font, size 12, top margin of 3cm, bottom margin of 3cm, left margin of 3cm, right margin of 2,5cm. A soft copy should accompany the manuscript (CDs can be used or alternatively, the manuscript is emailed to: tapchi_ncqt@mofa.gov.vn or tapchi_ncqt@dav.edu.vn).

The figures, tables, diagraphs and diagrams used in the article are not coloured and fully quoted.

8. If the author quotes exact words from one sentence or a phrase comprising of 10 or more words from a source, the quotation needs to be placed in quotation marks. Notes and references are presented in the Chicago Manual of Style (Notes and Bibliography) as follows:

Notes: Number 1, 2, 3… until the end of the article (not numbering for each page)

· Regarding books, dissertations and reports: Author’s name or publisher, Title of the book or dissertation, report (Place of publication: Publisher, time of publication): page.

Example: Tran Thua, Macroeconomy (Hanoi: Education Publisher, 1999): 9.

· Regarding articles in a journal or newspaper: Author’s name, “Article’s title,” Journal’s name or newspaper Volume, Number (time of publication): page.

Example: Le Dinh Tinh, “On Strategic Thinking: Theory, Practice and the Case of Vietnam,” International Studies 111, No. 4 (12/2017): 8.

· Regarding online articles: Author’s name. “Article’s title.” Journal’s title, time of publication and online links.

Example: Farhad Manjoo, “Snap Makes a Bet on the Cultural Supremacy of the Camera,”  New York Times, 8 March 2017, https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/08/technology/snap-makes-a-bet-on-the-cultural-supremacy-of-the-camera.html.

References:

· Regarding books, dissertations and reports: Author’s name or publisher. Title of the book or dissertation, report. Place of publication: Publisher, time of publication.

Example: Tran Thua. Macroeconomy. Hanoi: Education Publisher, 1999.

· Regarding articles in a journal or newspaper: Author’s name, “Article’s title,” Journal’s name or newspaper Volume, Number (time of publication): starting and ending pages of the article.

Example: Le Dinh Tinh, “On strategic Thinking: Theory, Practice and the Case of Vietnam,” International Studies 111, No. 4 (12/2017): 7-35

· Regarding online articles: Author’s name. “Article’s title.” Journal’s title, time of publication and online links.

Example: Manjoo, Farhad. “Snap Makes a Bet on the Cultural Supremacy of the Camera.”  New York Times, 8 March 2017. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/08/technology/snap-makes-a-bet-on-the-cultural-supremacy-of-the-camera.html

· Surname of the author precedes his/her first name. Example: Manjoo, Farhad.

· References are arranged alphabetically according to surnames of the authors.
