On April 16, 2024, at the Geneva conference room, the Chinese Language Faculty of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) organized a seminar themed “The Role of Tang Poetry in Contemporary Chinese Cultural Life”, focusing on the discussion of “Spring in Tang poetry”. The seminar was honored by the presence of Dr. Dinh Van Hau - Head of the Department of Literature & Country Studies - Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture - University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, who served as the special speaker for the seminar. Attending the seminar were Dr. Phan Vu Tuan Anh, Dean of the Chinese Language Faculty, Mrs. Tran Ngoc Ninh, Vice Dean of the Chinese Language Faculty, many lecturers of the Chinese Language Faculty, and more than 100 students of the DAV.
At the seminar, Dr. Dinh Van Hau had enthusiastic moments when commenting on spring poems in the Tang dynasty. His extremely erudite and interesting sharing has helped lecturers and students of the DAV to immerse themselves freely and comfortably in the poetic and emotional world of Tang Dynasty literature - the brilliant pinnacle of Chinese literature. At the same time, the seminar gave students a space to listen, understand, discuss and experience the extremely delicate and meaningful words and images in Tang poetry, as well as their role and importance in the flow of Chinese culture and art. Perhaps this is also what attracted students who are not studying Chinese language at the DAV to join the discussion.
After that, Dr. Dinh Van Hau had a friendly and open exchange with students through questions on Tang poetry. From this Q&A session, students gained useful information and knowledge not only about poetry in particular but also about the massive culture and history of China in general. Dr. Dinh Van Hau also expressed his appreciation for the learning spirit and positive attitude of the students of the DAV toward this topic.
The seminar ended in an atmosphere of joy, excitement and warmth when all lecturers and students took souvenir photos together. Hopefully, the valuable knowledge and experience received from here will help students improve their effectiveness in studying and researching the language and country of China.
