DAV Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Diplomatic Academy “Augusto Ramírez Ocampo”, Colombia

On the morning of 5 December 2025, the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV) hosted the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the DAV and the Diplomatic Academy “Augusto Ramírez Ocampo” (ARO), Colombia. Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, President of the Academy, chaired the ceremony and signed the MoU on behalf of the DAV. Representing the Colombian side was H.E. Ambassador Camila Polo Floréz, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Viet Nam. The ceremony was attended by representatives of Department of the Americas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, representatives from the Embassy of Colombia in Hanoi, and leaders of various departments of the DAV.

In his remarks, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son warmly welcomed Ambassador Camila Polo Floréz to the Academy and thanked her for representing ARO in the signing of the MoU. He provided an overview of the Academy’s functions, mandate, organizational structure, and major milestones achieved over its more than 65 years of establishment and development. Dr. Son emphasized the Academy’s crucial role in training high-quality diplomatic personnel for the country and expressed his desire to strengthen substantive and in-depth cooperation with ARO through student and faculty exchanges, joint research activities, and academic initiatives. He also affirmed the DAV’s readiness to expand cooperation with Colombian universities and research institutions through the support and facilitation of the Colombian Embassy, thereby contributing to the advancement of Viet Nam–Colombia relations.

Speaking on behalf of ARO, Ambassador Camila Polo Floréz expressed her sincere appreciation for the warm reception extended by the DAV’s leadership and conveyed her pleasure at the signing of a framework that will guide cooperation between the two institutions in the coming period. The Ambassador affirmed that ARO attaches great importance to its partnership with the DAV, particularly in the key areas outlined in the MoU, including the exchange of information on training programmes; facilitating participation of diplomats in short- and medium-term training courses; promoting the exchange of lecturers, experts, and researchers; sharing academic materials; and extending invitations to scientific conferences and seminars. She expressed confidence that these substantive areas of cooperation will help strengthen the foundation for long-term collaboration and open new opportunities for both Academies.

The signing ceremony took place in a formal and cordial atmosphere. Both sides expressed their expectation to soon implement concrete cooperative activities to realise the commitments set out in the MoU, thereby further enhancing cooperation between the two Academies and contributing positively to the development of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Colombia./.
