DAV Signs MoU with the University for Peace of the UN

On 27 February 2025, the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV) and the United Nations-mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) successfully held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at DAV headquarters in Ha Noi. This landmark event marks a significant step forward in fostering a collaborative relationship between the two prestigious institutions, reinforcing their shared commitment to peace, diplomacy, and sustainable development.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, Acting President of DAV, and Ambassador, Dr. David Fernandez Puyana, Permanent Observer of UPEACE to the United Nations, alongside distinguished guests, faculty members of the DAV.

In his address, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son underscored the indispensable role of diplomacy and peace education in today’s increasingly complex global landscape. He reaffirmed the mutual mission of DAV and UPEACE in nurturing future diplomats, scholars, and leaders endowed with strategic foresight, conflict resolution expertise, and an unwavering dedication to fostering a just and peaceful world. Mr. Son highlighted that the MoU is not merely a formal agreement but a profound manifestation of both institutions’ strong resolve to advance joint training programs, collaborative research initiatives, and academic exchanges. He expressed confidence that this partnership will serve as a catalyst for numerous opportunities, enabling students, faculty, and researchers to gain access to cutting-edge knowledge and spearhead innovative projects addressing pressing global challenges.

Ambassador, Dr. David Fernandez Puyana, in his speech, commended Viet Nam and Hanoi as a beacon of peace, an exemplary hub for fostering and advancing peaceful solutions to regional and global challenges. He conveyed his firm belief that, under the framework of the newly signed MoU, UPEACE will soon deploy distinguished experts to DAV for teaching engagements and academic collaborations, thereby further solidifying the institutional partnership.

The MoU signing underscores Viet Nam’s steadfast dedication to global peace efforts, ranging from strengthening multilateral cooperation to actively contributing to United Nations peacekeeping operations.
