DAV's Acting President received Thai Ambassador to Viet Nam

On the morning of June 17, 2024, Ambassador, Dr. Pham Lan Dung, Acting President of the DAV, welcomed H.E. Mrs. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Viet Nam.

The meeting was also attended by Mrs. Kanchanit Petchampai, Second Secretary of the Embassy; along with representatives from various DAV units: the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, the East Sea Institute, the English Faculty, and the External Cooperation Department.

Ambassador Sriphiromya expressed her gratitude for the warm reception at DAV and highlighted her impression at the ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) organized by DAV last April, noting it was the first event she attended since her assignment in Viet Nam. She congratulated DAV on the successful forum and expressed hope that it would become an annual event; she also committed to continuing her predecessor’s efforts in enhancing bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Viet Nam, as well as between the Embassy and DAV, including promoting relations between DAV and Thai universities and research institutes.

Welcoming Ambassador Sriphiromya to Viet Nam to start her term, while also thanking her and the Embassy’s participation in the recent AFF forum, especially in coordinating for the Thai Prime Minister’s recorded speech at the forum, Dr. Pham Lan Dung emphasized the close relationship between DAV and the Thai Embassy in Hanoi; particularly acknowledging the role of her predecessor in mobilizing sponsorship for the Thai Room at DAV; she trusts that during her term, Ambassador Sriphiromya will continue to contribute to the relations between both countries in general and between DAV and the Embassy in particular.

During the meeting, both sides also proposed several future cooperative activities to consider implementing such as exchanges of lecturers, students, researchers; sending students for internships at the Embassy; and inviting the Ambassador to speak, lecture, and attend international seminars organized by DAV./.
