

Hanoi, April 2025 – The Faculty of International Law at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam hosted an engaging seminar titled “U.S. Trade Policy under Trump 2.0: Implications for Vietnam”, featuring Mr. Nguyen Anh Tung, senior associate at Baker Hostetler. The event attracted a diverse audience of more than 100 students from Faculties of International Law, International Economics and International Relations, provided an engaging, in-depth discussion on the evolving trade landscape. Dr. Ngo Thi Trang, representing the Faculty of International Law, moderated the session, ensuring a dynamic and insightful exchange of ideas.
The seminar featured an in-depth analysis of three critical aspects of Trump’s latest trade policies: (i) New Tariffs and Trade Measures, (ii) Stricter Compliance and Enforcement, and (iii) Mitigation Strategies. Despite the complexity of these topics, Mr. Tung’s expertise in both U.S. trade law and political dynamics made the discussion both comprehensible and engaging. The presentation was followed by a series of thought-provoking questions from students, primarily centered on the implications of trade policies for Vietnamese businesses. Mr. Nguyen Anh Tung and Dr. Ngo Thi Trang provided valuable insights and guidance, encouraging students to pursue further research.
As the seminar drew to a close, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tung shared his inspiring journey from studying law in Vietnam to securing a position at one of the most prestigious law firms in the U.S. He urged students to seize internship opportunities to expand their horizons and shape their future careers. Accepting Dr. Trang’s invitation, he expressed enthusiasm for returning to future academic events at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.
