Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam’s Academic Exchange with Chinese Think Tanks

At the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam conducted a visit to China from September 22 to 26. This trip is part of the framework for annual academic cooperation and exchanges between research institutions of the two countries.

During the visit, the delegation signed an MOU for cooperation with China Foreign Affairs University and participated in a 1.5 track academic seminar with the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) on the theme "Promoting the Building of a Vietnam-China Community with a Shared Future of Strategic Significance". The delegation also held in-depth discussions with several leading Chinese research institutes, including China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU), China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), and Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS).

These meetings and exchanges provided valuable opportunities for both sides to engage in extensive discussions on Vietnam-China bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern. The focus of the seminar and discussions was to further promote Vietnam-China relations, particularly exploring opportunities and challenges in implementing the "six better" approach agreed upon by the leaders of both countries to build a Community with a Shared Future of Strategic Significance.

Additionally, both sides exchanged views on various global and regional issues of mutual interest, such as the global governance system in the context of profound global changes, lessons from China's economic development model transformation, relations between major countries and recent important developments in China-US relations, Mekong-Lancang cooperation, and regional hotspots like the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Middle East situation, and the South China Sea.

The visit was a great success, contributing to enhanced understanding between scholars and experts of both countries, especially regarding each side's perspectives and assessments of international and regional issues. It helped strengthen the mechanism for regular exchanges and dialogues between research institutions and track-two diplomacy of both sides, contributing to the overall development of bilateral relations./.
