Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, DAV's Vice President received New Zealand Ambassador to Viet Nam
On the morning of June 26, 2024, at the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV), Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, Vice President, had a courtesy meeting with the New Zealand Ambassador to Viet Nam, H.E. Ms. Caroline Beresford, who recently presented her credentials and began her tenure in Viet Nam in May 2024.
Attending the meeting from the New Zealand Embassy in Hanoi were Ms. Ginny Chapman, Deputy Head of Mission; Ms. Christine Horrill, Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and Ms. Nguyễn Minh Hà, Policy Advisor. From the DAV, representatives from the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, the Department of Education and Training, and the External Relations Division were present.
Welcoming Ambassador Caroline Beresford to the DAV, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son congratulated the Ambassador on presenting her credentials and starting her term in Viet Nam. He expressed confidence that with the Ambassador’s experience, the relationship between the two countries would continue to further develop. Vice President Hung Son emphasized the close relationship between the Academy and the New Zealand Embassy in recent years and hoped that the Ambassador would continue to promote and maintain this relationship, especially in the fields of education and training as well as Track II diplomacy activities.
Ambassador Caroline Beresford expressed her great impression with the achievements of the DAV in recent times and affirmed that the New Zealand Embassy is ready to act as a bridge to promote the relationship between New Zealand and Vietnamese agencies, including the DAV, to bring the cooperation to a deeper and more substantive level in the near future. This is especially significant as the two countries are approaching the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 5th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership in 2025.
During the meeting, both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern and discussed cooperation opportunities between the Embassy and the Academy during Ambassador Caroline Beresford’s tenure.
The meeting concluded successfully, opening up new cooperation prospects between the DAV and the New Zealand Embassy. Both sides agreed to maintain close contact and coordinate in organizing joint activities in the near future to promote the development of bilateral cooperation./.
