EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY AT KOTRA – KOREA TRADE-INVESTMENT PROMOTION AGENCY

On the morning of 14 March 2025, the Faculty of International Economics, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, and KOTRA successfully organized an extra-curricular activity at KOTRA Hanoi. The program provided students with valuable insights into Vietnam–Korea trade relations and offered practical career experiences shared by representatives of KOTRA.

The event welcomed:

    Mr. JungHo Pak – Deputy Director, KOTRA Hanoi;
    Mr. Trần Sỹ Trường Sơn – Alumnus of Cohort 47, Faculty of International Economics, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam;
    Ms. Phan Thị Mỹ Hạnh – Alumna of Cohort 41, International Communication, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam;
    Ms. Nguyễn Hải Yến – Alumna of Cohort 41, English Language, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, currently working at KOTRA.

  • From the Faculty of International Economics:
    Ambassador Tào Thị Thanh Hương – Former Ambassador of Vietnam to Singapore, Lecturer of the Faculty of International Economics, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam;
    Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Lam – Lecturer of the Faculty of International Economics, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam;
    together with a large number of interested students.

At the opening, Ambassador Tào Thị Thanh Hương expressed her appreciation to KOTRA representative Mr. JungHo Pak for supporting the organization of this highly beneficial activity. She also commended KOTRA’s achievements in promoting trade between small and medium-sized enterprises of Vietnam and Korea.

Following this, Mr. JungHo Pak introduced key developments in trade relations between the two countries. In 2024, Korea became Vietnam’s third-largest trading partner, with total trade exceeding USD 81 billion. He also noted that KOTRA currently operates three offices in Vietnam, with KOTRA Hanoi being the largest branch in Southeast Asia.

The Q&A session continued with active participation from students, who raised questions about internship opportunities and essential skills for working at KOTRA. Alumni currently employed at KOTRA offered guidance, emphasizing the importance of not only professional knowledge but also foreign-language skills, office computing, event organization, and a proactive and diligent attitude. They also introduced the main responsibilities of various departments supporting trade activities between Vietnamese and Korean enterprises. Graduates were encouraged to follow KOTRA Hanoi’s Fanpage for recruitment updates.

The extra-curricular activity provided an enriching experience for students of the Faculty of International Economics. It helped them better understand a professional working environment and broaden their knowledge of practical career paths aligned with their field of study. This serves as an important foundation for students to build confidence in shaping their careers and developing their professional capabilities.
