On 25 October 2025, the United Nations Cybercrime Convention Signing Ceremony, themed “Combating Cybercrime – Sharing Responsibility – Shaping the Future,” took place at the National Convention Center in Hanoi. This historic event marked the first time Vietnam hosted the signing of a UN convention. The ceremony was attended by President Lương Cường, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, as well as high-level representatives from Vietnam, approximately 110 countries, and numerous international organizations.

The signing ceremony represented a major milestone in global cooperation against cybercrime, emphasizing the importance of proactive national participation, the preparation for domestic implementation, and the enhancement of law enforcement capacity to protect sovereignty, national security, and citizens’ rights in the digital space. It also underscored the shared responsibility of states in establishing a safe, resilient, and well-governed cyberspace for the future.

The Faculty of International Law at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam was honored to be represented by Dr. Ngô Thị Trang, Vice Dean, along with outstanding students from the faculty. Their participation offered a unique opportunity to engage directly with policy directions, international negotiations, and the implementation processes of the Convention, while also expanding academic perspectives and reinforcing a sense of global responsibility among future international law professionals in the digital era.

Being part of this historic event highlights the faculty’s commitment to integrating academic training with real-world international policy developments. It reflects Vietnam’s growing role in international integration and global cooperation, particularly in fostering a safe, humane, and sustainable cyberspace. Through such engagement, students and faculty alike gain invaluable experience in understanding the intersections of international law, digital governance, and cybersecurity policy, preparing the next generation of legal professionals to address complex transnational challenges.
