High-level delegation of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) visits the DAV
On the afternoon of August 20, 2024, a high-level delegation from the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) visited and held discussions with the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV) as part of their visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of the leaders of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thin, Vice President of the DAV.
On the afternoon of August 20, 2024, a high-level delegation from the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) visited and held discussions with the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV) as part of their visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of the leaders of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thin, Vice President of the DAV.
The MPLA delegation, including 07 Politburo members, was led by Mr. Manuel Domingos Augusto, Politburo member and Secretary of the MPLA’s Central Committee in charge of foreign affairs. Accompanying the delegation was H.E. Mr. Agostinho Fernandes, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Viet Nam.
Also present to welcome the MPLA delegation were representatives from various departments of the DAV, including the Foreign Service Training Center (FOSET), the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, the East Sea Institute, the Centre for Information and Documentation, the Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy, and the External Relations Division.
Opening the meeting, DAV’s Vice President Nguyen Thi Thin welcomed the MPLA Delegation to the Academy, expressed her delight at the substantial developments in the relationship between the two countries and the two parties, and shared her deep appreciation for the Angolan people's sentiment for President Ho Chi Minh as well as the country and people of Viet Nam. Providing an overview of the Academy's history, organizational structure, and its current outstanding activities, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thin expressed her pride in the quality, prestige and achievements of the DAV in in education and training for both students and officials in foreign affairs; as well as in its strategic research and Track-2 diplomatic networks.
Mr. Manuel Domingos Augusto expressed his joy to visit the DAV, which has trained many MOFA leaders and diplomats for Viet Nam. He thanked Dr. Nguyen The Thin and the Academy for their time in welcoming the delegation and expressed the desire to learn from the DAV's model, as well as from other organizations of the Vietnamese Party and State, to apply in Angola's international integration and development efforts. He also expressed his desire to serve as a bridge to promote cooperation between the DAV and Angola's Diplomatic Academy (the ADVM).
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on diplomatic training, the global and regional situation and other issues of mutual concern. Both sides expressed their confidence in the continued positive development of relations between the two Parties and countries./.
