Opening ceremony of the new academic year 2010 – 2011

On September 9th 2010 morning, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam held a solemn opening ceremony of the new academic year 2010 – 2011. Attending the ceremony were the Assistant Foreign Minister, Mr. Pham Quang Vinh and the director of Diplomatic Academy, Associated Professor, PhD. Mr. Duong Van Quang, faculty members, student representatives and more than 500 new K37 students of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Mr. Pham Gia Khiem sent a flower basket to congratulate on the opening ceremony of the Academy.

In his opening speech, Assoc., PhD. Mr. Duong Van Quang, the director of the Academy welcomed the new students with the warmest greetings through the history of the Diplomatic Academy and affirmed that from now on the K37 students will develop this prolonged honorable history. Assoc., PhD. Mr. Duong Van Quang stated that in this academic year, the Academy will witness relatively large reforms, especially in foreign language training, which is considered one of the Academy’s strengths (Foreign Languages and International Relations Theories). In the end of the speech, the Director Duong Van Quang urged new students to promote students’ spirit of dynamism, creativity and self-awareness in the new era. On this occasion, he also wished the new students in particular and all students of the Academy good learning, industrious practice, and great success achievements in the new school year.

Agreeing and sharing with the ideas of the Academy’s director, the Assistant Foreign Minister, Mr. Pham Quang Vinh also gave some words to the new students. He stated that this is “the start of a new period” to all new students and utmost, Diplomatic students – the future diplomats – should always understand three mottos: First is the general knowledge base of humanity and knowledge about Vietnam; second is the bravery and political beliefs - the indispensable base of a diplomat, and third is the grasp of professional and foreign language - the essential tools of a diplomat.

As a former student, now a lecturer in Faculty of International Politics and Foreign Affairs, Ms. Le Ngoc Han shared joy of welcoming a new generation of students to the roof of Diplomatic Academy, a "cradle of training" of the diplomatic talents of the country. She also revealed the pride of having studied in the Academy and she wished that the new students will have the memorable moments and gain a lot of academic achievements as well as success in other activities at the Academy.

The ceremony continued with two students’ speeches, one from Ms. Tran Bich Trang, K35, Faculty of International Politics and Foreign Affairs with the idea "to give and to get back", "study hard, play hard" and "a progressive spirit" to grow up and self - improve; and the other from a new student, Ms. Pham Huyen Trang, K37, Faculty of International Politics and Foreign Affairs with the joy of becoming a student of DAV and studying in a university of the "dynamism, creativity and visionary. "

On this occasion, the representative of Viettel Corporation has awarded prizes to top 10 new students who achieved the highest results in the recent entrance exams to the Academy.

During the ceremony, there were also special musical and dancing performances of Diplomatic students: Diplomatic Song (Bai ca Ngoai giao) by Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Dean of Faculty of Media and Cultural Foreign Affairs being performed by the students’ orchestra stimulated a profound students’ pride on the Academy; the Female Self-defense martial art of Vovinam club - a traditional national martial art – caught a lot of K37 students’ attention; Chinese four-chord lute and dance performance of Dance club have shown the talents of Diplomatic students who not only study well but also sing and dance well ...

Opening Academic Year 2010 - 2011 has ended successfully in the melody of the song "Stand together" (Sat canh ben nhau) presented by the orchestra of the Academy’s Green Summer Volunteers. The program has set a good impression in the heart of representatives, faculty members and new K37students. The academic year of study and practice under the roof of Diplomatic Academy is waiting all new students. Wish the new K37 students a new successful academic year and continue the 50- year glorious educational career of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.
