On the morning of 11 July 2025, at the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV), Dr Nguyễn Hùng Sơn, President of the Academy, received H.E. Md. Lutfor Rahman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Viet Nam, to discuss ways to boost bilateral cooperation in diplomacy and academia.

President Nguyen Hung Son expressed his pleasure at welcoming the Ambassador, affirming that Viet Nam–Bangladesh relations are progressing positively in many areas and that both sides have great potential to broaden cooperation—especially in academic exchanges, research and student training. He stressed that DAV is ready to serve as a bridge between scholars of the two countries, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and supporting policy-making. The President also outlined major DAV events in the second half of the year—including the East Sea International Conference, the Mekong Dialogue and the “China Talk” seminar series—and invited the Ambassador and Embassy representatives to attend.

Ambassador Md. Lutfor Rahman thanked DAV for the warm reception, praised the Academy’s role as a think-tank, and expressed his wish to strengthen ties with Vietnamese research and training institutions, particularly in science and technology. He confirmed that the Embassy would continue to send staff to DAV events and looked forward to promoting regular academic dialogue.

The two sides discussed the early signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between DAV and Bangladesh training and research institutions, agreeing to complete internal procedures so the signing can take place at an appropriate time. They also agreed to maintain close contact, encourage delegation exchanges and cooperation between DAV and Bangladesh universities and research institutes, and promote short-term student exchange programmes. The meeting took place in a friendly, cordial and constructive atmosphere, opening up prospects for deeper cooperation between DAV and Bangladesh partners in the time ahead./.
