President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam receives delegation of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly of Laos

On 27 December 2012, the delegation of the Foreign Relations Committee of National Assembly of Laos led by Mr. Koukeo Akhamontry, Chairman of the Committee during a working visit to Vietnam which occurred for three days commencing on from 25th November 2012, met the leaders of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV).

Attending the meeting were Dang Dinh Quy, DAV’s President, Doan Phuong Dung, Deputy Chief of the Academy Office, Nguyen Thi Thin, Head of Academic Faculty, Do Tu Hien, Deputy Head of the Political Work and Student Management and representatives of Lao students studying at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.

At the meeting, DAV’s president Dang Dinh Quy reported on the functions, tasks and organizational structure of the Academy. He focused on teaching, research, international relations, international economics, international law, training, retraining of staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as staff from other ministries and branches of Vietnam. The President also reported on the results of training foreign relations officials for Laos under an agreement signed between the Laotian and Vietnamese Governments as well as cooperation in research, promotion of the second channel of diplomatic activities between the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA - Laos) on the mechanisms, the second channel forum both regionally and internationally. The President confirmed that this second channel was the most significant focus of international cooperation of the Academy.

During this meeting, representatives of the Lao students reported to the delegation on the studies and training of Lao students at the Academy.

Mr. Koukeo Akhamontry appreciated DAV’s efforts and effectiveness of cooperation in personnel training for Laos as well as in the second channel of diplomatic activities with the IFA - Laos. He emphasized that the Academy together with relevant agencies of Laos should be more active in the exchange of information, professional experience for mutual support in research and training on international relations.
