Raymond Reamey Memorial Scholarship Ceremony 2010

On the morning of February 24th 2011, Raymond Reamey Memorial Scholarship Ceremony was held by the English Faculty at Conference Room B with the attendance of Mr. Tim Kirley - the representative of the sponsor, Mr. Gary Reamey; Mr. Duong Van Doan – Dean of English Faculty; Ms. Kieu Thi Thu Huong – Vice Dean of English Faculty, representative teachers of English Faculty and 24 recipients – students of different departments in DAV.

Raymond E. Reamey Memorial Funds and Scholarship (Reamey Scholarship for short) was sponsored by the Reamey family to award allowance to promising and deserving students of DAV, from the 1st to the 4th year, who have limited financial resources but show commitment and determination to complete their studies, especially gain high achievement in English language studies. After Mr. Raymond E. Reamey passed away, his son- Mr. Gary Reamey, has been continuing to fund this scholarship annually, creating a great contribution and encouragement to DAV’s students in their studies and the mastering of English language. The selection of the deserving students will be made every academic year by the management of the Academy (including English Department, the Department of Education and Student Office) and the names of the recipients of the Raymond E. Reamey Memorial Scholarship will be made available to the student population.

The Reamey Scholarship is annually held after students enjoy and back to school from their long Lunar New Year Holiday in their inspiring mood. At the ceremony, Mr Duong Van Doan, on behalf of the Academy and English Faculty, sent the sincere and profound gratitude to the Reameys for being the sponsors of the fund and expressed the deepest thanks to Mr. Tim Kirley for spending his valuable time participating in the ceremony and congratulated on the achievement of 24 deserving award recipients of the 2010-2011 Reamey Scholarship.

Mr. Doug Davenport, volunteer foreign teacher and the guest of the ceremony also addressed the congratulation on students and expressed his respect and thanks to the generosity of the Reameys to Vietnamese young generations.

The ceremony continued with the brief speech from Mr. Tim Kirley, the representative of the sponsor, Gary Reamey to congratulate 24 students as well as showed his happiness attending the ceremony. He, on behalf of Mr. Gary Reamey, handed scholarships to 24 students.

Ms. Vu Tu Linh, a student of International Economics K36, on behalf of 24 recipients expressed her feelings and sincere thanked to Mr. Reamey for their continuous support and to the honorable guest for participating the ceremony.
