SEMINAR: “Attracting FDI in Green Transition and Digital Transformation in Vietnam”

On the morning of 23 November 2024, the Faculty of International Economics, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, successfully organized a seminar on “Attracting FDI in Green Transition and Digital Transformation in Vietnam”. The event is part of the Faculty’s ongoing series designed to provide students with practical knowledge alongside their academic coursework.

The seminar welcomed:

    Mr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn – Deputy Director General, Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment.
  • From the Faculty of International Economics:
    Dr. Nguyễn Thị Minh Phương – Acting Dean, Faculty of International Economics; Dr. Nguyễn Vinh Thành; Dr. Nguyễn Xuân Đông; together with a large number of interested students.

The seminar began with a presentation by Mr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn. He provided an overview of Vietnam’s economic performance in 2023, highlighting key indicators such as GDP growth of 5.05%, CPI increase of 3.25%, total trade turnover of USD 683 billion, and a record trade surplus of USD 28 billion.

Mr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn emphasized that Vietnam is emerging as an attractive destination for international investors due to its stable political environment, open economic policies, young and abundant workforce, competitive production costs, and strategic geographical location. Major partners such as Japan, Korea, China, Singapore, and various European countries continue to invest actively in strategic sectors in Vietnam, particularly in renewable energy, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and green technologies.

He also discussed Vietnam’s efforts to improve infrastructure, enhance workforce quality, and create a favorable legal environment for foreign investors. Vietnam is building a sustainable investment ecosystem with a focus on green transition and digital transformation to strengthen competitiveness and meet environmental protection requirements in the context of sustainable development.

Following the presentation, the Q&A session took place in an energetic and engaging atmosphere. Students raised thoughtful questions on career opportunities, emerging investment trends, and the skills needed to meet future labor market demands. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn offered detailed responses and shared additional insights to help students better understand developments in FDI and the future trajectory of industries in the digital and green transformation era.

The seminar provided a valuable opportunity for students, especially those interested in international economics and foreign investment. It offered practical perspectives on the role of FDI in driving sustainable economic growth while helping students understand global trends, access new technologies, and develop national competitiveness.
