Students from Faculty of International Communication and External Foreign Affairs Participate in Course by Fulbright University Vietnam

On October 26th, 2021, 6 students who were behalf of the Faculty of International Communication and External Foreign Affairs attended an American Politics and Communication class by Professor Chris Matthews from Fulbright University Vietnam.

The course namely "America's Big Divide" would have five lessons from October 26th, 2021 to November 5th, 2021. Topics discussed were Covid Politics, Afghanistan Politics, Political Polarization in the United States, US Media Polarization and the Prospect of 2022 Midterm Election. Some of the lessons included the presence of students from American University of Afghanistan.

Students from Faculty of International Communication and External Foreign Affairs and those from Fulbright University Vietnam attend classes through an online platform.

Each lesson had a discussion between Professor Matthews and guest speakers to provide an overview of the topic, followed by a Q&A session between the students and the presenters. 

During the lesson on October 26th, with the theme of Covid Politics, the students listened to and talked with experienced speakers such as Joy Reid - political analyst for MSNBC, Heidi Przybyla - NBC NEWS correspondent, and Ron Reagan - reporter, host, and political commentator on MSNBC and Air America Radio. Through specific analysis by Professor Matthews and the guests, the students were able to access political and media issues behind the controversy over the decision to make masks mandatory and vaccinated in the US.

Through this course, the students are equipped with expertise in the fields of politics and the media, and thus broaden their understanding of issues at the national and international levels.
