

The competition aims at encouraging Vietnamese youth to have a deeper understanding about America as well as its special relationship with Vietnam in the past 25 years. At the same time, through the view of young generation, potential cooperation opportunities between the 2 countries will arise in the times to come.
The contest is for all students from 1st to 4th year currently engaging in any form of training in universities and colleges in Hanoi. Each team will produce a short film/reportage (approximately 5 minutes) about the achievements the 2 countries gained after the relation normalization in various fields: The socio-economic development, medical advancements, education cooperation, current Vietnam - U.S relationship, potential cooperation opportunities as well as thoughts and feelings about the relationship between the two countries, etc.

Through the rounds guided by profesDAV President Prof. Nguyen Vu Tung welcomes U.S Consul General in HCM City, Representative of the U.S Embassy in Vietnam Mrs. Marie C. Damour before the Finale startssional advisors at training sessions, after adding up the scores from judges, 11 most excellent and impressive short films/reportages have been chosen out 15 entries and officially makes it to the Finale which takes place on Friday December 20th 2019 at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam on 69 Chua Lang Str., Dong Da Dist., Hanoi.

In the Finale, 11 teams, in which 10 teams had highest marks from the Semi-final and 1 team had the most impressive video selected by the Advisory Board, presented about their films and reportages, stated their reasons and views about the topic and interacted with the Judges who were U.S experts from the DAV and U.S Embassy as well as representatives from the Vietnam Television.


Referring to the success of the Finale, it is impossible not to mention the contributions of the Judges who are experts in U.S studies and Vietnam - U.S relations in many areas: Regional Deputy Executive Director, Senior Representative in Vietnam of the US - ASEAN Business Council Vu Tu Thanh; Director of the American Center in Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia Paula Kitendaugh; Deputy Head of Foreign Affairs Department of VTV4, Vietnam Television Nguyen Thi Phuong Lien; Deputy Head of the East Sea Institute Dr. Lai Thai Binh; Dean of DAV English Faculty Dr. Nguyen Thi Cat Ngoc.



At the end of the night, the Victory Cup went to team Soybeans with the reportage “Kirk Evans and his CPAP Machine” (a humanistic story about the success of U.S - Vietnam medical cooperation in health protection for children); the Second Prize belonged to team The 1995’s reportage “Ordinary Stories of Extraordinary Achievements”; the two third winners are the Spice girls (with “Love blossoms after winter”) and The comrades (with“Vietnam Friendship Village - When love heals the wounds”).



With comments and evaluations from the judges and advisory board's recommendations, the reportages all have a clear humanistic meaning, which are the achievements in the Vietnam - US relationship in various fields and through that they affirm the strong friendship between the two countries and strive towards a good future.
