English Language is one of the most popular majors, attracting a large number of applicants every year. By choosing the English Language major, students are provided with in-depth knowledge to gain a deeper understanding of the factors that shape language, along with essential professional skills such as translation and interpretation.
In particular, at first glance, the “distinctive traits” of English Language students are easy to recognize. Each student possesses a unique personal style while consistently demonstrating a polished, professional demeanor. Let’s join the Admissions Counseling Team of the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam in exploring the vibrant community of English Language students!
Truong Thi Minh Phuong - K48 Student, Faculty of English Language

“To me, English Language students are always associated with 'classic' books like these. Dictionaries from Oxford and Cambridge are indispensable companions in our everyday school kit. If I were to use three adjectives to describe English Language students, they would be: ‘harmonious’, ‘responsible’, and ‘versatile’. Students in this major always bring a sense of comfort to those around them through their humble and elegant demeanor.
Furthermore, I’ve noticed that English Language students are incredibly versatile; they skillfully apply their academic knowledge to real life with a responsible, meticulous, and professional work ethic—qualities that truly define the identity of a Diplomatic Academy student.”
Dinh Thuy Duong - K49 Student, Faculty of English Language

“When talking about English Language students, we definitely cannot overlook the core subject: ‘Phonetics and Phonology’. In this class, we practice pronunciation using official curricula and receive precise, methodical corrections from our lecturers. Additionally, students are assigned shadowing and recording exercises to build habits and imitation skills, which ultimately elevate our reading and speaking abilities to a higher level.
The lecturers in our Faculty may be demanding, but they are always ready to support us whenever we face difficulties. In my opinion, while this is a challenging major subject that requires a deep understanding of the nature of intonation, English Language remains a highly promising field for the future. To all the K50 DAV-wannabes: I wish you the very best of luck in your upcoming High School Graduation Exam. I hope to see you become part of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and our English Faculty. Choose Diplomatic Academy – Find your fit!”
Nguyen Minh Ngan - K49 Student, Faculty of English Language

“Theoretical English Grammar, Translation Theory, and Introduction to Linguistics are among the prominent subjects in the English Language major. Through these specialized courses, we are provided with in-depth training on the foundational knowledge of the field. In particular, my peers and I also have the opportunity to learn and cultivate knowledge regarding political and foreign affairs, alongside the essential skills of a translator and interpreter.
Furthermore, we are exposed to a wide range of news reports, articles, and scientific research papers, with many opportunities to practice translating specialized texts to expand our expertise and vocabulary. Beyond the classroom, being an English Language student offers numerous chances to gain hands-on experience by interpreting at various events and seminars, ranging from faculty to academy-wide levels.”
