DAV Ambassadors’ Journey Organizes Ambassador’s Talk #3 on “Negotiation and Influence Skills - The Art of Effective Cooperation in Multi-Interest Environments”

On March 4, 2026, Ambassador’s Talk #3, titled “Negotiation and Influence Skills - The Art of Effective Cooperation in Multi-Interest Environments,” was held under the moderation of Ambassador Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Tung. The session took place in an open and engaging atmosphere, attracting the active participation of a large number of students.

The talk was honored by the presence of Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi - former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Denmark and Australia, and the 6th Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Hue - former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Italy, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Malta, and the Republic of San Marino; Ms. Hoang Mai Huong - Head of the Undergraduate Affairs Office; together with participants of the course and many attending students.

For students of diplomacy, understanding and developing negotiation and influence skills is highly practical, not only in their academic pursuits but also in preparing for future professional environments across various fields. In a context where organizations and professions increasingly require the ability to collaborate, communicate, and balance the interests of multiple stakeholders, skills such as active listening, persuasion, consensus-building, and adjusting dialogue strategies have become essential competencies for individuals. Through the Ambassador’s sharing of real-life professional experiences, participants gained clearer insights into how these skills are applied in practice, thereby gradually shaping their professional capabilities and preparing themselves for future career paths.

At the beginning of the talk, Ambassador Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Tung shared the concept of negotiation and effective negotiation skills from practical perspectives.

During the talk, the Ambassador offered many insightful perspectives on the role of negotiation in environments where interests and viewpoints are increasingly diverse. Drawing from extensive experience in diplomatic affairs, the Ambassador emphasized that negotiation is not merely about reaching agreements but also an art of building mutual understanding, exerting influence, and fostering cooperation among parties. These reflections provided students with valuable insights into strategic thinking, communication skills, and adaptability in complex negotiation contexts.

The discussion and Q&A session was lively, providing participants with opportunities to directly raise questions and exchange viewpoints with the Ambassador on real-world situations involving negotiation and cooperation.
