DAV Signs Record of Discussions with KOICA to strengthen training and research capacity

On the morning of January 13, 2025, in Hanoi, the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) signed a Record of Discussions (ROD) to implement the Project for Education Capacity Building of the DAV. The signing ceremony marked the official commencement of the project and represented a significant milestone in the cooperative relationship between DAV and KOICA, laying the groundwork for new opportunities to elevate the quality of diplomatic human resource training.

On behalf of KOICA, the signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Lee Byunghwa, Country Director; Mr. Jung Jae Woo, Deputy Country Director and other officials from KOICA Viet Nam Office. Representing DAV were Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, Acting President of DAV; Ambassador, Dr. Pham Lan Dung, Party Secretary and Vice Chair of DAV Council; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Vice President of DAV; as well as representatives of DAV’s units.

In his address, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, Acting President of DAV, conveyed his profound appreciation to the KOICA Viet Nam Office for their close partnership, invaluable support, professionalism, and unwavering commitment throughout the preparatory phase. Dr. Hung Son emphasized that the project carries strategic significance, not only facilitating the modernization of facilities, classrooms, and library infrastructure but also providing opportunities to enhance the professional capacity of DAV’s faculty and researchers. With these advancements, DAV aspires to establish itself as a leading regional and international institution for training high-quality diplomats and scholars. He reiterated the shared determination of DAV and KOICA to build a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of the evolving era, thereby making a meaningful contribution to Viet Nam’s sustainable development amidst deep international integration.

From KOICA’s side, Mr. Lee Byunghwa, Country Director remarked, “KOICA is deeply honored to partner with the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam in this significant initiative. Mr. Lee expressed confidence that this collaboration would deliver substantial benefits to Viet Nam as a whole and to DAV in particular, fostering its integration into the broader international and regional academic landscape.
