Not everyone begins their journey to adulthood with a clear roadmap. Some choose to walk first and figure out their path along the way. Lê Khánh Ly, an alumna of the 46th cohort of the English Language Faculty at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, is one of those people. Now serving as Executive Assistant at Vietfire Holdings, Khánh Ly doesn’t speak much of success in the traditional sense. Instead, she talks about persistence, faith in the little things, and the courage it takes to keep going—every single day.
From a Spark of Interest to an Unwavering Journey
Unlike typical Academy alumni, who meticulously plan out their futures, Khanh-Ly Le, alumna cohort 46 English Studies, chose the Academy with a very simple reason: “I didn’t choose this school out of a burning passion or anything; I just liked it, it felt suitable”. Not a grand beginning, nor a burning passion, but a quiet resonance with “diplomacy”. Her choice did not come without expectations, though admittedly modest ones, just to improve her English.
Yet, her early days were far from easy. Overwhelmed and lost among peers fluent in English while she struggled to find her footing, Ly felt an immense sense of pressure. Instead of turning to language centers, she took to heart a lecturer’s advice that she still remembers vividly: “If you’ve chosen the Academy, you should let yourself grow from this very place”. From that moment on, she embraced a path defined by persistence. Rather than stepping away, she stayed—and grew.

Living to the fullest, without regrets
When asked about what left the deepest impression during her time at the Academy, Khanh-Ly doesn’t hesitate to point to final two years of university—when she served as class monitor and what she describes as her “most brilliant” years. The position brought her closer to faculty, opening doors to deeper learning, greater participation, and a considerably demanding schedule. “During that time, I was incredibly busy. But it was because of it that I gained so many experiences, accumulated so many memories, and felt that each passing day held genuine meaning. If I could turn back time, I would choose to relive that period,” she reflects.
Her journey was touched by many, but none more deeply than by her homeroom teacher—Ms. Ngan-Giang Nguyen-Do. Her words to Khanh-Ly resonates: “I’ve never seen such dedication from a class monitor.” This wasn’t merely praise but an acknowledgement of the devotion she poured into her community. It explains why, even now as a professional, she regards her tenure as class monitor as among her most treasured memories.
For Khánh Ly, the university experience transcends the pursuit of stellar transcripts or prestigious accolades. Instead, she embodies a guiding philosophy of wholehearted engagement—embracing the courage to act, to experiment, to fail, and ultimately, to mature. "Four years at the Diplomatic Academy—it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So live it fully, experience it completely," she emphasizes. This deceptively simple yet profound philosophy defines Lê Khánh Ly's approach—someone who navigated her formative years with intention, depth, and zero regrets.

Dare to be Challenged, Dare to Grow
Like countless graduates before her, Khanh-Ly Le emerged from the Academy's gates facing an uncertain future. "Truthfully, I had no clear vision of what I should pursue after graduation," she admits candidly. Driven by her desire for a position that would place her close to leadership, utilize her English proficiency, and provide practical learning opportunities, she secured her first role as executive assistant at a technology firm. The transition from academia to corporate life proved more jarring than anticipated: "I naively assumed that professional life would mirror academic life. I was completely wrong. The workplace demanded far greater adaptability." The most significant adjustment, she notes, involved mastering interpersonal dynamics—learning to nurture professional relationships while maintaining personal integrity.
These early professional challenges ultimately deepened her appreciation for the foundation the Academy had provided—not just academic knowledge and soft skills, but the institutional credibility her degree represented. "The Academy didn't hand me something tangible or easily defined, but in retrospect, I recognize it equipped me with everything essential for maturation," she observes. The multidisciplinary exposure during her studies proved invaluable, providing not merely "knowledge" but "social capital for communication and adaptation." "The Academy doesn't manufacture conformity but teaches individual development. Faculty members don't simply transmit information—they share narratives and lived experiences. Only upon entering the workforce did I fully grasp the value of those seemingly modest lessons."

Today, her career has taken an unexpected trajectory: an executive assistant in fire prevention and safety. "I never could have imagined working in this sector. Yet I've adapted, continuously learning and discovering new dimensions of my capabilities," she explains. Her perspective on career development remains refreshingly pragmatic: "No student can fully map their professional journey in advance. But those willing to take risks and commit themselves will inevitably find their rightful place."
Despite accumulating impressive achievements at a remarkably young age, Ly rejects the notion of "early success." In her view, accomplishments derive meaning only when they propel continued growth, not when they become monuments to past glory. This philosophy drives her relentless pursuit of new opportunities and unexplored fields. "Whenever I sense I've grown 'brighter,' I immediately push myself forward. True illumination doesn't reside in past achievements but in the path that lies ahead."
Her journey didn’t stem from grand ambitions or the pursuit of predetermined routes. Rather, her willingness to choose, to persist, and to commit allowed her to author her own narrative. Her story demonstrates a fundamental truth: the courage to commit and try inevitably leads each person towards the right path.
