In today’s booming digital content era, where a single TikTok video or a social media post can touch millions, telling stories deeply rooted in cultural identity—with a fresh, youthful, and creative lens—is truly invaluable. Phạm Mai Hương, a graduate of Cohort 45 in International Communications at the Diplomatic Academy, stands among the young voices quietly making this happen, shaped by her journey.
The Diplomatic Academy – A Firm Foundation for Creative Storytelling
Once an active student at the Diplomatic Academy, Mai Hương now works as a planning specialist at VCCorp, one of Vietnam’s top media companies, while also pursuing content creation on TikTok. Her path into content began during an internship at a media firm, where she first engaged with a TikTok project. From early videos that were far from perfect, she gradually learned, experimented, and refined her approach—evolving from “breaking down” strategies to rediscovering what she genuinely wished to share.

Having been trained in an environment that demands multidimensional and flexible thinking like the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Hương found that her academic grounding in International Communications allowed her to approach digital content with depth and structure. On TikTok, she shares stories about Vietnamese culture, historical anecdotes, and familiar literary works—delivered with vivid, often playful storytelling that draws in young audiences while inviting reflection. For her, creating content isn’t about “teaching,” but about igniting curiosity and rekindling love for cultural values that may feel forgotten. She strives to ensure her work carries real value—cultural, social, and reflecting knowledge gained from years of study and practice. “I’ve always been more drawn to topics about society and culture than dry numbers. The Academy taught me that content isn’t just entertainment—it can forge connections and foster dialogue between cultures.”

A Diplomatic Spirit — Multitasking with a Willingness to Connect
When asked about the common thread among Diplomatic Academy students, Mai Hương laughs: “Probably… biting off more than we can chew!” But behind that humor lies the sharpness and adaptability the Academy instilled in her—a person capable of balancing work, study, and creative pursuits simultaneously.
Juggling her professional role and content creation, Hương is candid about the realities of this path. The greatest challenges aren’t a lack of skills, but the occasional creative drought and the tension between imaginative freedom and practical constraints such as budgets, timelines, and resources. Her remedy? “Taking a shower—some of my best ideas come then,” she laughs. She also keeps a personal toolkit: revisiting past works for inspiration, exploring similar channels, and recently integrating artificial intelligence to spark new directions. “AI doesn’t deliver perfect ideas automatically, but it helps me tap into the knowledge I want to share.”
Balancing a full-time career, creative work, and graduate studies in Marketing, Hương admits she hasn’t mastered perfect balance, but embraces flexible time management—writing during lunch breaks, brainstorming on walks, or devoting weekends to personal projects. “When you do many things at once, you don’t move fast—but you explore many directions. That’s the trade-off.”

Though uncertain about long-term content creation, Hương believes this chapter has already gifted her more than expected—especially the chance to connect with other young people who share a passion for culture and storytelling. “International Communications isn’t just a degree—it’s a mindset, a way of seeing the world and connecting with others. Whatever path I take, I carry with me the diplomatic spirit—open, courageous, and creative.”
When asked for advice to the next generation, Mai Hương shares openly that even with past experience, doubts and hesitation still arise at beginnings. Yet instead of letting fear block her way, she chooses to move forward, slowly but steadily. “Being new always means fear. But I think: it’s okay to be afraid—just don’t stop doing. Success requires effort and persistence.” Sometimes ideas don’t materialize not because opportunities are missing, but because we wait too long. So just start—do more, do consistently—and often, that persistence is what creates luck.

Phạm Mai Hương proves that Diplomatic Academy graduates can be more than policymakers or professional diplomats—they can also be storytellers, inspiring and sharing Vietnamese values through every short clip and carefully crafted phrase. She carries the gentleness of a lover of beauty, the steadfastness of a seeker of identity, and a heart eager to reach others with authenticity. Her story reminds us that no matter the path, the most vital thing is to keep your voice alive—full of feeling and meaning.
