The Indonesian Foreign Policy Strategy Agency (FPSA) pays a visit to the DAV
On the afternoon of August 28, 2024, a delegation from the Indonesian Foreign Policy Strategy Agency (FPSA) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia paid a visit to the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV) to discuss potential areas for enhancing cooperation between the two sides, on the occasion of the delegation's business trip to Hanoi. Ambassador, Dr. Pham Lan Dung, DAV’s Acting President, presided over the meeting and working session with the delegation.
The FPSA is a unit under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, responsible for formulating, drafting, and providing proposals and recommendations on policy strategies in the implementation of foreign relations and the execution of Indonesia's foreign policy. The FPSA delegation, consisting of seven members, was led by Dr. Yayan G.H. Mulyana, Director of FPSA. Accompanying the delegation was Mr. Feny Zamzari, Minister-Counselor at the Embassy of Indonesia in Hanoi.
The FPSA delegation was also welcomed by representatives of various departments of the DAV, including the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies (IFPSS), the East Sea Institute, the Foreign Services Training Center (FOSET), the Faculty of International Economics, and the External Relations Divison.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, with constructive and substantive exchanges and discussions from both sides. Dr. Pham Lan Dung warmly welcomed the FPSA delegation to the DAV and provided an introduction to the history, traditions, organizational structure, and functions of the Academy. Given the unique nature of the DAV as a comprehensive educational institution that integrates teaching, training, and research, DAV staff undertake multiple roles simultaneously. The Academy maintains a mechanism that encourages researchers to be both proactive in their research and actively involved in teaching students across various faculties. Additionally, the Academy's researchers, scholars, and lecturers frequently participate in training sessions and workshops for foreign affairs officials, providing updated information on global political, security, and economic developments.
Mr. Yayan G.H. Mulyana, Director of FPSA, expressed his pleasure at visiting the DAV and thanked Dr. Pham Lan Dung for taking the time to meet with them. Mr. Yayan shared that FPSA has a center dedicated to research on policy strategies for special issues and data analysis. Indonesia has successfully built a data culture, integrating it into education and training programs. The country places great emphasis on the collection, processing, research, and analysis of data. This is a critical area that receives strong support and attention from the President.
Dr. Pham Lan Dung welcomed proposals to enhance cooperation between the two parties by organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, and simulations aimed at forecasting trends and providing suitable recommendations for potential future scenarios. Both parties also agreed to promote the exchange of published materials, share information, data, and survey results related to economic diplomacy in ASEAN countries. They expressed a desire to advance cooperation and develop publications, including specialized scientific journals. Notably, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Indonesia (1955 - 2025), both parties agreed to encourage and invite scholars and researchers to collaborate on writing articles about the bilateral political, security, and economic relations for a special issue of each party’s international research journal.
Emphasizing that cultural exchange and academic cooperation play a crucial role in all potential areas of collaboration between Viet Nam and Indonesia, Dr. Pham Lan Dung recommended that both parties maintain regular communication to effectively implement the proposed cooperation between DAV and FPSA in the near future./.
