On the morning of June 27, the Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy (FIPAD) successfully organized a seminar titled: “Applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Learning and Scientific Research.” Led by Dr. Ngo Di Lan, a Research Fellow at the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies (IFPSS), Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), the event garnered significant interest from a large number of students at the Academy.

Opening the seminar, Dr. Ngo Di Lan highlighted the increasing trend in technology application, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), which is becoming deeply involved in numerous fields and stages of the human work process. Given this situation, maintaining traditional classroom models with their inherent limitations will no longer be the optimal choice for maximising contemporary student learning methods.
According to Dr. Ngo Di Lan, AI serves as a powerful assistant for students in solving specific problems during their learning and research journey. These applications include explaining and simplifying complex knowledge, suggesting ideas for developing outlines, and identifying gaps in knowledge and argumentation. For research purposes, AI can assist students at every concrete step: from selecting a research topic, writing a literature review (review of the research situation), determining the appropriate approach and methodology, to synthesising and processing data. Additionally, the speaker pointed out the potential risks associated with using AI, subsequently advocating for the correct mindset regarding these tools and establishing principles for their effective and intelligent utilisation.

Notably, the Question-and-Answer (Q&A) session concluding the seminar was extremely engaging, marked by active participation between the speaker and the students. During this final session, students had the opportunity to express their concerns and questions, receiving dedicated answers from the speaker on issues revolving around AI application: the boundary between legitimate assistance and academic misconduct when using AI in research, and the evolving role of faculty members as AI becomes more deeply integrated into students' academic lives.

FIPAD hopes that the seminar provided the necessary knowledge and skills regarding AI applications, equipping students with a solid foundation to pursue their studies and research endeavours. The Organising Committee sincerely thanks Dr. Ngo Di Lan and all the students who participated./.
